Isaiah 41 verses 10 and 13 reveal something wonderful to us: Abba Father holds both of our hands and upholds us just like a parent upholds a young child learning to walk. The Hebrew word for uphold is chazak and it means to add your strength to another 's so that your strength is combined
. Hallelujah! Father God upholds us, enabling us to walk forward, gaining strength and experience in every walk of this life.

Jeremiah 9:24 KJV "But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord."
“But let the man who boasts, boast of this, that he understands and knows me. For I am Yahweh who acts in steadfast loyalty, justice, and righteousness upon the earth; for in these things I delight – Yahweh’s word.” Jeremiah 9:24 J. A. Thompson translation.
In the original Hebrew text, these words carry profound meanings. The word glory in this verse is "yitehalel" which comes from the root word "halal" which is where we get the word "Hallelujah”.
"Hallelujah" means praise the Lord, and literally, it means to make God shine. Without the" Jah" at the end, it simply means to “make to shine.” In a worship context it means to boast or rave about GOD so vibrantly that you make Him shine before others. In other words, we could say "Let him that boasts, brags , makes GOD shine, let him do this by both understanding Who GOD is and knows Him personally.
Let me explain...
The word for understand here is the Hebrew word "sakal" which means to have an intelligent, thought through knowledge of the reason about something. It involves giving something careful examination with attention to detail and insight. Hebraic thought stresses the active part of faith in GOD. Loving Him means doing what He does.
John 14:15" If ye love me, keep my commandments". This is very true, and something that needs to be emphasized again and again. We must actively demonstrate that our lives conform to the truth of God’s revelation in His Word.
If we are not thinking, we are not believing.
Our faith must always be relevant to what is going on in our society all around us and it takes active thinking and planning to NOT conform to this world system.
Romans 12:2 ESV "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
We must seek to apply Romans 12:2 to our own lives.
We must seek to apply knowledge from our hearts and minds to our lives. The heart of the matter is always the heart, never mere mental or intellectual ascent.
Jeremiah 9:24 " that he understands and knows me"
Now we discover that understanding (sakal) isn’t quite enough. We are also commanded to “know” Him (yada’). "yada" means that the intimacy of deep relationship, the friendship, the honesty, the confrontation, the instruction, the familial bonding, are all part of "yada".
When the Bible says "Adam knew Eve" in Genesis 4:1 it is this word "yada" used for" to know" and refers here to sexual intercourse. GOD desires to be is our best friend, our protective parent, our mentor, our guide, your lover of the soul, our comforter- our all in all. Understanding Who GOD is not enough. Understanding Who He is and experiencing intimacy with Him is what makes Him shine before others. Returning to Jeremiah 9:24, what gladdens the heart of GOD?
Let's look at the Hebrew words for " steadfast loyalty/loving kindness/ steadfast love“ which is "chesed" meaning covenant loyalty, the Divine Love of GOD. "justice" is "mishpat" meaning “justice/judgement/ fairness/ ethical standards/fair rulings/righteous conduct"
Deuteronomy 16:20 Amplified Bible " You shall pursue justice, and only justice [that which is uncompromisingly righteous], so that you may live and take possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving you."
In the Hebrew text it repeats the word "justice" for emphasis "Justice, justice you shall follow"
The third word is " righteousness" which in the Hebrew text is "tzedakah" from "tzedek" meaning "righteousness" "Tzedekah" means "justice in action" Righteousness in action is the action of preserving what matters most to God and includes ethical integrity, obedience, duty, compassion , graciousness and benevolence. This word "tzedekah" summarises the responsibilty we each have towards both GOD Himself and towards others. It is a "one word envelope" for the second greatest commandment.
Matthew 22:36-40 ESV “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Concerning these three things, GOD says He delights in them. The Hebrew word for "delight " is "chaphets" meaning “ to take delight / pleasure in,” “to be pleased with,” and “to desire.” It’s important to recognize that this word in GOD’s revelation to Jeremiah does not simply mean “to gladden God’s heart.” "Chaphets" includes the idea that this not only pleases GOD but is also what He desires and what He values. As we would expect, there is an assumed obligation here. In Hebrew thought again this is a concept that requires action. It is not In other words, while a larger range of behaviours might give GOD pleasure, these particular actions are what The LORD GOD truly desires of His people in action, in evidence in our lives. Do we truly delight in and love what our Heavenly Father loves? How can we say we love The LORD, lift our hands in worship to Him and then refuse to engage in the issues all around us in our society such as the daily slaughter of unborn children made in His image? Countless millions around the world, and in the UK alone almost 11 million (I am writing this in 2026) since the abortion act of 1967. How many hundreds of thousands of people sit in our churches screaming inside with supressed pain caused by abortion in their family-fathers who never knew their children and grandparents who never knew their grandchildren as well as the mothers who chose to kill their own unborn children and are haunted by this every day of their lives and need to know The LORD's forgiveness and healing? Yet so many church leaders refuse to deal with this epidemic of trauma in our society. But if not in our churches then where are they to receive the help they need? I firmly believe that churches were never supposed to be Cosy Clubs but spiritual hospitals.
Are we teaching our own children the truth of GOD's Word or do we simply allow them to be brain washed by the utter evil lies of Evolution, Climate Change and claiming that there are more than 72 genders? It is the duty of parents first and our churches to educate our children and not the secular anti Christ state system. Whether it be abortion or assisted suicide-human euthanasia, very quickly the exception always becomes the norm.
Let us take Jeremiah 9:24 to heart and along with that Revelation 2:6 "Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate" The Nicolaitans taught that you could profess to believe in Christ and at the same time live an unrepentant immoral lifestyle - moral heresy-maintaining an outward appearance, an exterior of worship of The LORD Jesus but living a life of utter hypocrisy.
Questions to think on:
Are we guilty of the same hypocrisy of the Nicolaitans?
Do we life our hands in worship of Him but shrug our shoulders apathetically at what is happening all around us every day?
Do we really care about and love that which GOD loves and hate that which He hates?

What's In A Name Part 7.
We have seen in this mini series that our identity is to do with our destiny.
See John 17:14-16 and 15:19
Romans 8:28 says that GOD works all things together for good for those who love Him, and are called according to His purpose- to those who are yielded and submitted to Him, seeking His purposes to build His Kingdom and not our kingdom.
In Ezekiel 9:4 those that wept at the corruption and depravity in the city were marked by GOD. Do we weep at what is happening all around us. Do we sigh and lament over the daily slaughter of the unborn ? Do we weep over the evil and depravity that is applauded and exalted in our land? We bear the mark of our Owner and should mark us out in our society. Those who refuse to do so are vilified.
Let's look now at the identity The LORD Jesus has promised His own beloved ones. See Revelation 2:17 and 3:12
Remember the Greek word translated "church" is "ecclesia" meaning "called out ones" and has nothing to do with buildings.
The called out ones at Ephesus are commended for their endurance and for hating what He hates and loving what He loves. They are promised a white stone with a new name. In ancient courts a white stone was lifted by the jury members to say "not guilty". It represents us being made pure by the blood of Christ and new creations in Him. See 2 Corinthians 5:17
Even more than this, it is a personal name of intimacy and endearment between The LORD Jesus, The Lover of our soul, and ourselves.
We will have a new name known only to us as individuals, The Holy Name of GOD written upon us, The name of The New Jerusalem and a new name from Christ for us.
Paul the apostle bore brand marks upon his body. See Galatians 6:17
They identified him as the slave of Christ Philemon 1:1/
They were marks of shame and reproach in the eyes of the world. 1 Corinthians 9:22
They were the brand marks of a soldier 2 Timothy 4:7
They were marks of devotion and loyalty 2 Corinthians 5:14
See 2 Corinthians 11:23-33
His body would have been severely scarred.
We are all known to GOD by name.
Is our individual name written in The Lamb's Book of Life?
See Revelation 20:11-15
We are known individually by name whether on the earth or in the spirit realm. See Luke 16:19-31
Our Shepherd calls us by name See John 10:3
GOD said to Moses " I know you by name"- a statement of intimacy. Exodus 33:17
We are known by name and called of GOD before we are ever conceived in our mother's womb. See Jeremiah 1:4
Isaiah 45:1 names and calls King Cyrus of Persia 150 years before he ever became Cyrus The Great and ruled Persia in 559 to 530 BC
He was a pagan king who GOD worked through to help the people of Israel return to Jerusalem after 70 years captivity in Babylon and rebuild Jerusalem. See the books of Ezra and Nehemiah.
Our identity is found in Christ Jesus.
"Our Father in Heaven, hallowed, revered, worshipped and adored be YOUR Name" ( Matthew 6:9)
Amen

What's In A Name Part 6
The kings of the north were victorious in the battle and led off captives, including Lot, Abraham’s nephew, who by this time was actually living in Sodom (Genesis 14:12).
One who escaped came and told “Abram the Hebrew” what had happened to Lot (Genesis 14:13). This is the first time that the word “Hebrew” occurs in the Bible. It means “one who has crossed over”. It was a title given to Abram because he had crossed over the Euphrates, having left his country and kindred in obedience to God (Genesis 12:1 and following)
In Genesis 14 King Chedorlaomer had ruled over several other kingdoms, including Sodom, for twelve years before they rebelled, leading to the Battle of the Nine Kings. In this war, Chedorlaomer's forces captured Lot, Abraham's nephew who lived in Sodom. Upon hearing this, Abraham, backed by his trained servants, defeated Chedorlaomer and his allies in a night raid, thus rescuing Lot his nephew and other captives.
John 3 makes it clear that we must be born again of the Spirit of GOD. If not we remain in the kingdom of darkness and under the wrath of GOD.
See John 3:1-7, 16-18 and 36.
Through Christ we are delivered from the power and kingdom of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of GOD's dear Son
See Colossians 1:13
The Meeting at The Valley Of The Kings
The king of Sodom and Melchizedek with Abraham in the Valley of Shaveh, also known as the King's Valley after his defeat of Chedorlaomer to welcome him back. This meeting, although brief in narrative, was important as it marked a pivotal moment in the life of Abraham.
In the King's Valley, Abraham was not only met by the king of Sodom but also by Melchizedek, the king of Salem (the early Jerusalem), who was also a "priest of God Most High" " El Elyon"(Genesis 14:18).
It is important to note that there were three people at this meeting.
Abram/Abraham
The King of Sodom and Melchizidek Priest of The Most High
Remember the King of Sodom 's name was King Bera. His name means "son of evil"
Sodom means "to burn"
The name "Melchizedek" is composed of two Hebrew words : "melech" meaning "king" and "zedek" meaning "righteousness." Therefore, the name Melchizedek can be interpreted as "king of righteousness." and we are told that he was the priest of GOD Most High -El Elyon in Hebrew.
Melchizedek is mentioned in Psalm 110:4, a Messianic psalm that prophesies about a future priest-king: "The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind: 'You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.'" (Psalm 110:4) Melchizedek represents The LORD GOD The Lord Jesus Christ Himself In the New Testament, the author of Hebrews elaborates on the significance of Melchizedek, particularly in chapters 5 to 7.
Hebrews 7:1-3 provides a summary of Melchizedek's encounter with Abraham and highlights his unique priesthood:
"This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham apportioned to him a tenth of everything. First, his name means 'king of righteousness.' Then also, 'king of Salem' means 'king of peace.' Without father or mother or genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God, he remains a priest forever."
These three met in the Valley Of Shaveh. The name Shaveh comes from the verb שוה (shawa), meaning to be like or agree with. This was a valley of pivitol decision. To which king was he going to give his allegiance?
To The Son Of Evil , the King of Sodom or to the King Of Righteousnes and priest of GOD Most High -El Elyon?
The king of Sodom said to Abram, give the people to me and take the goods for yourself (v 21). According to custom, as their rescuer, Abram had a right to both the people and the property that he had recovered. The king of Sodom was bargaining for a portion of the spoils, although he had no legal claim.
Although Abram had the right to retain all, he replied in a manner that showed amazing insight and a great commitment to principle. He said he had sworn that he wouldn't take anything not even a thread or a sandal thong (v 23). He knew that accepting the offer of the king of Sodom would make them allies and Abram did not want to be in his debt. He was happy for the king of Sodom to be in his debt. But Abram wanted no allegiance with the corrupt kingdom of Sodom.
Faith looks beyond the riches of the world to the greater blessings that GOD has in store. Abram will not be indebted in any way to the king of Sodom for fear you would say, 'I have made Abram rich' (v 23). Abram wanted everyone to know he had not acted as a mercenary (a warrior for hire). He makes it clear that he will take nothing from the King Of Sodm. He will have no allegiance with him. This reminds me of Satan's offer to the LORD Jesus in Matthew 4:8-10
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written,
“‘You shall worship the Lord your God
and him only shall you serve.’”
Abram/Abraham received a covenant meal of bread and wine from Melchizedek and in doing so showed his covenant allegiance to him and GOD Most High.
The presentation of wine by Melchizedek foreshadows the use of wine in the Passover meal and, ultimately, in the The Lord's Supper or Communion where wine represents the blood of Christ, the new covenant.
Luke 22:19-20
ESV
" And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood"
In forgoing his normal share of the booty, Abram speaks only for himself. Any goods or possessions he is to have will come from GOD except what the young men have eaten and the share of the men who went with me, Aner, Eshcol, andAner means "light" or "lamp" symbolizing guidance and illumination
Esccol means "cluster" as in a cluster of grapes , which make wine, and symbolises fruitfulness
Eg A valley in which the spies obtained a fine cluster of grapes ( Numbers 13:23 Numbers 13:24 ; "the brook Eshcol," A.V.; "the valley of Eshcol," )
Mamre means "strong" or "firmness" and the name Mamre brings to mind the "oaks of Mamre" in Genesis 18:1.
The three friends who helped Abram/Abraham represent:
The WORD of GOD which is light and a lamp to instruct and guide us. Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
The fruit of the Holy Spirit Galatians 5:22-23
(ESV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law
and thirdly spiritual strength and resolve. The Oak of Mamre - The Terebinth tree of Genesis 18:1 symbolizes strength, endurance, and longevity in pursuing the purposes of GOD throughout our lives.
Isaiah 61:1-3
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;[a]
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;[b]
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified "
Abraham gave a tenth of everything to Melchizedek, consecrating his victory to God.

What's In A Name Part 5
El Paran means "Protuding Glory" or "Oak of Paran".This is a significant Biblical location symbolizing a place of spiritual testing , Divine provision and a place of transition. Paran was a wilderness and this place El Paran symbolizes GOD's Presence being with us through the wilderness.
Ismael lived there. See Genesis 21:21
David went there after the death of Samual. See 1 Samuel 25:1
The wilderness journey symbolises the trials and growth of our faith just the people of Israel learned to rely on GOD's provisions , sustenance and direction for 40 years . The LORD Jesus Himself was tested for 40 days in the wilderness . See Matthew 4 :1-11
The Tabernacle of GOD with His Presence rested in Paran See Numbers 10:12 pre figuring Christ Himself dwelling among us .See John 1:14
See Deuteronomy 33:2 - GOD shines forth from Mount Paran and this is linked to the return of Christ. In Habakkuk 3:3 Paran is referred to highlighting GOD's majestic Presence and He Who once marched from Paran will again shake earth and sky.
En -Mishpat (Kadesh)
En-Mishpat means "Spring of Judgment" os "Fountain of Justice"
It signifies a place of Divine Decision, GOD's ultimate authority. It is often identified with Kadesh which comes from the root Hebrew word "Kodesh" meaning holy- set apart. This is where the 12 spies came to give their report of the Promised Land, and, refusing to listen to Caleb, the people refused to go up and take it .See Numbers 13:25
In Numbers 20 it is the place where Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to is as instructed by GOD and as a consequence was not permitted to enter the Promised Land.
See Numbers 20:12
Decisions were made at Kadesh that changed destinies
Amalakites- In Hebrew tradition Amalek represents utter evil and those who have given themselves over to dark impurity,as well as spiritual blindness and arrogance against GOD.
The LORD Himself declared perpetual warfare against Amalek. See Exodus 17:16
Amalek embodies the principle of "lo yareh HaShem" meaning the lack of the fear of The LORD and symbolizes the powers of darkness and evil.
Deuteronomy 25:17-19 is a call to spiritual warfare in our lives. We cannot be pasisve and just accept evil in our lives or society at large.
Amorites -In Hebrew this means "The Talkers" or "The Sayers"
representing deceit and lies.
These people were also giants in physical stature. Their King Og is decribed by Moses in Deuteronomy 3:11 as being the last "remnant of the giants"
All around the world enormous giant skeletons have been found but they have always been confiscated by governments and hidden out of public sight. I don't need to ever see such skeletons however. The Bibe says what it means and means what it says. These giants existed and were connected to the hybrid beings of half fallen angel and half human beings of Genesis chapter 6.
Hazazan-tamar- In Hebrew this means "Split or Divided Palm"
Hazaz= to divide
Tamar=Pal tree
In tthe palm tree symbolises victory, righteousness, peace and prosperity. See Psalm 92:12-15
This lying spirit manifests in pride, gossip, quarrelling, jealousy and selfishness. See Romans 16:17-18, James 3:14-16 and Matthew 12:25

What's In A Name Part 4
Carrying on our study of Genesis 14 :1-7
The Hebrew names convey revelation to us from The Holy Spirit.
Abraham went out after these wicked kings, who represent the ways in which Satan takes people captive, because they had taken his nephew Lot captive. We too are commissioned by our LORD Jesus to rescue those held captive in spiritual darkness. See Isaiah 61:1, Colossians 1:13 and Mark 16:15
In verse 2 we have reached King Shemeber. "Shem" means name. Jews refer to the LORD GOD as, HaShem. They won't pronounce the Holy Name of GOD. This arrogant king uses the word "shem" and then "eber" meaning to be" lifted up", "lofty" " on high". This is a demonic arrogance. GOD alone is high and lifted up See Isaiah Isaiah 57:15 and Isaiah 6:1
He was king of "Zeboim" which primarily means "gazelles" but in Biblical Hebrew the Valley Of Zeboim is known as the "Valley Of Hyenas" and known as a desolate wild place. Hyenas in Scripture are associated with unclean animals and the demons. See Isaiah 34:14 in the context of a prophetic description of GOD's judgement and pictures of Hell. This king was, also king of "Bela" which means" to devour " or" to destroy ". The Devil is The Destroyer.
See John 10:10 and Revelation 9:11. The word" Zoar" simply means "small".
Although The Destroyer likes to appear powerful, to GOD He is tiny, minute and his own utter destruction is soon to be carried out. See Revelation 20:10
Hallelujah!
In Genesis 14:5 we read of the "Rephaim" meaning "giants" and are connected to the "Nephalim" meaning "Fallen ones" of Genesis 6, half human and half fallen angel creatures that Satan uses to try and corrupt the human DNA because GOD had declared that there was coming somone to be born of a woman who would utterly destroy him. See Genesis 3:15
Noah however was "perfect in his generations" (Genesis 6:9) meaning his genes were uncorrupted by the mix of fallen angel and human intercourse.
These giants were from "Ashteroth-Karnaim" meaning "Ashteroth Of The Two Horns". Ashteroth was a, Cannanite goddess of fertility often worshipped alongside Baal also known as the "Queen of Heaven"
See Judges 2:13, 1 Samuel 7:3-4, 1 Kings 11:5 and 33 and Jeremiah 44.
Next the "Zuzim" meaning "moving things" and "mighty things" were related to the Rephaim and hence also to the Nephalim. They are also related to the ZamZummim, another giant- like people in Deuteronomy 2:20
"Ham" was simply a place east of The Jordan.
Next the "Emim" meaning "fearful ones", again a giant-like people known for their terrifying size and strength, related to the Rephaim and Nephalim and mentioned in Deuteronomy 2:10-11
They were from "Shaveh-Kiriathaim" meaning the "plain of the twin cities" east of the Jordan. Twin cities in Scripture often highlight duality between sin and righteousness, rebellion and worship, destruction and salvation, serving as powerful metaphors for the only 2 possible destinations of human beings.
In Genesis 14:6 the "Horites" are traditionally described as "cave dwellers" but their name comes from the Hebrew root word "harar" which means to "burn with anger" and "Seir" literally means "rough, hairy or shaggy" referring to the mountainous region of Edom, but this word "Seir" is also used metaphorically for both physical and spiritual storms, portraying an image of both fury and chaos- anger that is out of control.
Uncontrolled anger is extremely dangerous and demonic. See Proverbs 22:24 and James 1:19-20.
We will look at the amazing meanings and spiritual truths in the names in Genesis 14:7 in tomorrow's broadcast.. Whether we like it or not, we live in a spiritual war zone on this earthly pilgrimage. The Holy Spirit in these Hebrew names reveals much to us to help and equip us.

What's In A Name Part 3
Genesis 14 :1-3
Four kings from the east conquer 5 Cannanite city states including Sodom and they captured Lot, the nephew of Abraham.
Everything in the Scriptures is there to teach us. We should avoid glossing over the Hebrew names. Their names tell us much. Let's look at the names of these kings and the places they were from.
Amraphel means "dark words", or "sayer of darkness"
King of Shinar which was the place where the tower of Babel and Babylon was built. Shinar means "revolution" symbolizing rebellion against the Divine Order of GOD.
In Scripture Babylon represents this world system which is in total rebellion against GOD. Revelation 18 tells us that it will be destroyed. The Hebrew names of these kings reveal to us the demonic opposition we face in this world system as believers on The LORD Jesus Christ.
Amraphel = "dark words" or "sayer of darkness" and is in direct contrast to The LORD GOD.
See Genesis 1:3
1John 1:5
John 1:4-5 and 8:12
Psalm 27:1
1 Timothy 6:16
Next King:Arioch means "fierce lion"
King of Ellasar which means "rebellion of God"
He represents fierce defiance against The LORD.
See Job 22:21 and James 4:7
Next king:
Chedorlaomer means "servant of the goddess Lagamar" whose name means "no mercy"
See Psalm 103 :8
Ephesians 2:4-5
He was King of Elam which means "high, distant and hidden"
Here we have the first indication of Gnosticism, an anti Christ spirit working in the earth.
Gnosticism is the belief of attaining secret knowledge and mystical insight and believes that salvation is not through faith but through obtaining distant lofty and mystical knowledge. Salvation however is through faith in the atoning sacrifice of sin through the physical death of the physical GOD-fully human man Jesus Christ.. See 1 Timothy 6:20-21
Colossians 2:8
1John 4:2-3
Next king:
Tidal means "knowledge of elevation"
King of Goliim which means "nations" or "peoples"
Again this gnosticism in the nations.
Next king:
Bera means "son of evil"
King of Sodom which means "to burn"
Next king: Birsha means "son of wickedness"
King of Gomorrah which means "gripped or bound by fear". Fear as in terror is a spirit and in not from The Living GOD. Satan is the terrorist. ( See John 10:10)
See 2 Timothy 1:7
Next king :Shinab means "splendour of the father"
What arrogance!
See Hebrews 1:3
John 1:14
Next king:
King of Admah meaning the "red earth" and was near the Dead Sea, where the extremely high salt concentration makes it inhospitable for most aquatic life such as fish and plants to survive.
GOD gives us the Living Water of The Holy Spirit
John 4:14 and 7:37-39
Ezekiel 47:9-12
Revelation 22:1
We will continue this study tomorrow

What's In A Name Part 2
In Daniel chapter 1 we read of how King Nebchadnezzar of Babylonian had besieged and conquered Jerusalem and some talented, intelligent Hebrew men were taken to serve the king in Babylon. They were taught the Babylonian /Chaldean language and literature. They were given 3 years of training with a glorious provision of luxury food every day as was given to the king himself. Wow! It was a life of privilege! BUT what was actually going on here?
Firstly their Hebrew names were replaced with Babylonian names.( Daniel 1:6)
"Daniel" means "My Judge is GOD" He was given the name "Belteshazzar" meaning "May Bel Protect His Life" Bel was the chief Babylonian god.
"Hannaniah" means "Yahweh Is Gracious". He was given the name "Shadrach" meaning "The Command Of Aku" Aku was the Sumerian moon god
"Mishael" means "Who Is Like GOD". He was given the name "Mesach" meaning "Who Is Like Aku" ( the same moon god).
"Azariah" means "Yahweh Has Helped". He was given the name "Abednego" meaning "Servant of Nego" who was called "a shining fire" and is translated from the Chaldean/Babylonian language as "Lucifer". In honour of these men, let's try to use their Hebrew names. They would have loathed and hated the demonic names they were given!
In Daniel 1:8 we read these words "Daniel purposed in his heart". Daniel made a firm quality decision of conviction. His 3 friends also joined him in his conviction to not eat the king's meat but only vegetables. This was because they decided they would not compromise their identities as Hebrew worshippers of The One True GOD. The Babylonian meat was dedicated to the Babylonian gods but the vegetables were not. These Hebrew men wanted to keep the food laws of Leviticus 11 and 17:10-14. They also refused the wine because drinking wine has to do with covenant as well as fellowship. Drinking wine at a meal with someone was to do with covenant. The ministry of king of Saul is "bookended" with covenant meals. The prophet Samuel hosted a significant ceremonial covenant meal for Saul in 1 Samuel chapter 9 at the beginning of his kingship. Tragically in 1 Samuel 28 the witch of Endor slaughtered a fattened calf for Saul in a covenant meal. He started being in covenant with The Living GOD but ended being in a covenant with the Devil. Daniel and his friends knew about covenant. We know Daniel and no doubt his friends knew the Scriptures. In Daniel 9:2 Daniel tells us that he was, studying the book of Jeremiah the prophet and knew that the Babylonian exile would last 70 years- which it did. These 4 Hebrew men showed a conviction of heart in actively resisting evil. They had conviction of Who they belonged to and their eternal destiny in The Living GOD of Israel. Daniel went on to be delivered fron the power of the lions (Daniel chapter 6)and his 3 friends were delivered from the firey furnace( Daniel chapter 3)
How sad that of all the Hebrew men taken to Babylonian to serve king Nebchadnezzar the Scriptures tell us of these four men alone and their brave convictions. We can only assume that of all the Hebrew men taken, only 4 of them refused to compromise their faith and convictions and therefore became assimilated into the Babylonian culture and also therefore into covenant with the Babylonian gods.

What's In A Name? Part 1
"What's in a name?" is a quote from Shakespeare 's Romeo And Juliet where Juliet poetically says that a name is merely a label. This however is not what we see in the Bible. Throughout Scripture names are shown to be profoundly significant, representing a person's character, destiny, Divine connection and purpose. They often reveal a message from GOD from Genesis to Revelation.
See Revelation 2:17 and 3:12. Our identity and our destiny is in Christ.
In Scripture, giving someone a name establishes a relation of dominion, authority and possession towards them and relates it to the overlord's own sphere.
In history it was the custom of rulers and kings, when they had conquered a city or nation, to give that city or the former leader of the conquered territory a new name, establishing control and authority over them. We will more at this later in this series.
GOD gave Adam dominion over all the creatures on the earth abd demonstrated this by giving Adam the work of naming them.
See Genesis 2:19 and Psalms 8 :6-8
The giving of someone a new name, different from their original name implies new rights and new obligations for the re-named person. It's like a trade mark, marking that person as belonging to the overlord and being under their authority and protection.
Biblically this can be both positive and negative.
Abram was given the new name of Abraham by GOD Himself. Abram means Exalted Father. Abraham means Father Of Many Nations. See Genesis 17:1-7
GOD also gave Jacob a new name. Jacob means Supplanter / One Who Seizes. He was renamed Israel meaning Triumphant With GOD /Prince With GOD
See Genesis 32:27-28
The LORD Jesus changed Simon's name to Cephas ( Greek form of Peter).
Simon means "hearing" and it is associated with "reed" because reeds, are easily swayed in the wind - swayed by hearing the voices in the wind.
Cephas/ Peter means Rock signifying steadfastness.
See John 1:42
and Matthew 16:16-18
We are now going to look at the 10 Hebrew names of the genealogy of Genesis chapter 5.
In Genesis 5:1-4 we see that although GOD had made man in His own image and likeness ( Genesis 1:26-28), because of The Fall of Adam now the image of fallen Adam was, passed on from generation to generation.
See Romans 5:12-21
and
I Corinthians 15:22
Back to Genesis chapter 5:
Firstly "Adam" means "man" and "earth /soil" from "adomah"- "son of the red earth"
Secondly "Seth" meaning "placed /appointed compensation" As the 3rd son of Adam and Eve he was appointed to replace Abel whom Cain killed. See Genesis 4:25
Thirdly "Enosh" means "mortal/ frail" It's root meaning is "to be incurable" used for a wound, a sickness or a wickedness that has no cure.
Fourthly "Kenan"
means "sorrow /grief/ lamentation/ to mourn" .
Fifthly" "Mahalalel" means "The Blessed God".
"Mahalal" means "praise/ blessed"
"El" means God.
Sixth "Jared" means "shall come down" from the verb "yaradh" - to descend / come down
Seventh "Enoch" meaning "trained /teacher /" Enoch was the first of 4 generations of preachers. In fact the earliest recorded prophecy was by Enoch concerning with the Second Coming of Christ. See Jude verses 14-15
Enoch did not physically die. He was, raptured, which means caught up by GOD. See Genesis 5:24
Eighth is "Methuselah" meaning "his death shall bring". It's literal meaning is "man of the dart/javelin/ spear" representing judgement. This is why he had such a long life, symbolising the grace and mercy of GOD giving opportunity for people to repent. It was in the year that Methuselah died- see the Biblical calculations of age given in the genealogy - that the Great Flood came. See also 2 Peter 3:9. Noah was a preacher of righteousness, warning the people of the impending judgment. See 2 Peter 2:5
Ninth "Lamech" means "to lament /despair"
Tenth "Noah" means "Rest/Comfort"
Now, if we read the meanings of those Hebrew names out in their order we get this :
Man
Appointed
Mortal
Sorrow
The Blessed God
Shall come down
Teaching
His death shall bring
Rest/Comfort
Here is a summary of GOD's plan of redemption within the genealogy of Genesis chapter 5. It's right there, laid out in the Torah, in Genesis the Book Of Beginnings, in the Hebrew names. It is the beginning of The Love Story of John 3:16.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". Shalom shalom

The Nursing Baby Is Our Teacher
Genesis 15:6
Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
6 And he [Abram] believed in (trusted in, relied on, remained steadfast to) the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness (right standing with God).
The Hebrew word for "believe" here is "aman". This amazing beautiful Hebrew word cannot be fully conveyed in the English translation. It's linguistical origins are in the picture of a baby nursing at it's mother's breast. The nursing baby is our teacher of what it means to believe on The LORD. The baby is totally dependent on the mother and trusts in the mother without hesitation or doubt. The baby is fed and satisfied by the milk provided by the mother. This word "aman" shows the foundational relationship of complete reliance, provision and love. The provision of GOD is given in love just as the mother feeds the child sustenance and nourishment in an act of love directly from within herself. This is the picture of "aman". This is the trust Abram/Abraham put in GOD. Just 2 chapters later in Genesis 17:1 GOD reveals Himself to Abram/Abraham as "GOD Almighty" which in Hebrew is El Shaddai meaning "The Many Breasted One" The word "shad" in Hebrew is "breast"revealing Himself as The One with a limitless capacity to provide, nourish and bless in love, The One Who sustains His own like a nursing mother sustains her baby. The Name El Shaddai appears several times in both the books of Genesis and Job. Eg In Genesis 25:11 GOD reveals Himself to Jacob as El Shaddai.
Sometimes this Hebrew word "aman" is translated in English as "faithful".
Eg Proverbs 27:6
: “Faithful are the wounds of a friend"
The word "wounds" is "pase" which is the same word used for a eunuch. A eunuch is one who voluntarily goes under the knife in castration to show his faithfulness and undivided loyalty to his master. They were often employed in royal courts and were high ranking officials and elite body guards, rated for their loyalty. The Hebrew word rendered as "friend" is the word Hebrew word "ahav" which means "love" with deep reliability and commitment. This verse could therefore be read as" the loving one who allows himself/herself to be injured on behalf of the one they care about. That is surely true friendship.
A parent would voluntarily take on the sickness of their child if it would cure her child’s illness. In battle, soldiers have voluntarily laid down their lives for the sake of their friends, their family, or loved ones.
The LORD Jesus came to earth to be wounded and to die for us. He did this voluntarily for our sake. I think this verse in Proverbs 27:6 is revealing something to us about the death of Messiah on the cross where He proved the "aman", the faithfulness and eternal provision of His love.
In John 15:13 He said John 15:13
" Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
This amazing Hebrew word "aman" is also often translated as, "faithful"
Eg Deuteronomy 7:9" Know therefore that the LORD thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;"
Indeed the word" Amen" comes from the word "aman". It comes from the same Hebrew root and signies an affirmation of GOD's faithfulness, trustworthiness and nurturing provision, steadfastness, a bounding loving provision for us.
Now next time you read Genesis 15:6 see the picture of the nursing baby at it's mother's breast and then connect that verse with Genesis 17:1 where GOD reveals Himself as, El Shaddai, the Many Breasted One, The All Sufficient And Satisfying One, The Abundant Supplier And Provider in love.
How profoundly and astoundingly beautiful is our GOD in His love for each one of us...
