Ezra led over 5,000 people back to Israel from being in Babylonian captivity and also lead them in returning to The LORD GOD with all their hearts causing a great revival. The key to this man's remarkable life is found in Ezra 7:10. He prepared his heart to be steadfastly immersed in The GOD he loved so passionately, to do His commands and to teach others. His actions flowed from the love of his heart for the Heart of GOD. In the Hebrew month of Elul we are thinking on returning to our First Love of The Lord Jesus Christ. Where have we allowed our love for Him to become luke warm or even cold? GOD and His Word are one. The Word of GOD is Jesus Christ Himself (John 1:1) To fall in love with His Word is to fall in love with Him.

Both the Hebrew word "kerovim" for coming near in Deuteronomy 4:7 and the Greek word"eggizo" in James 4:8 mean to draw near from the heart in an encompassing embrace or hug, to draw near with the intention of being joined together in an encompassing embrace. Our Heavenly Father is always eager to embrace us in His love the moment we seek to draw near to Him.
In this Hebrew month of Elul we are focusing on returning to our first love of The Lord Jesus, the LORD our GOD, and drawing near to His very heart. He says to us "Come as far as you can and I will meet with you there" He welcomes and embraces us to His heart and His heart, encompasses us.

Song of Solomon 2:6-7
The King has gone out into the field of the world to seek his bride. His left hand is under her head and with his right hand he embraces her. The left hand "semol" in Biblical Hebrew represents hidden support and nurturing care. The right hand "yamin" represents strength, authority and protection. The Shulamite is supported and encompassed by the love of the king. In Ephesians 3:18-19 Paul's prayer is that we might comprehend the breadth, length, height and depth of the all encompassing love of Christ.
The Shulamite woman speaks to the Daughters of Jerusalem, unmarried women of Jerusalem, who on Tu'B'Av, which today in Israel is like our Valentine's Day, a day of matchmaking and courtship, would be dancing in the streets dressed in white showing their marital availability, to take an oath by the does and gazelles, to not awaken or arouse love before it's time. Although she was not a daughter of Jerusalem, she knows that the king has chosen her and that the other women should therefore not seek his love. The gazelles and does or wild deer are sure footed creatures. Their names in Hebrew are also are a play on the similar sounding words for Names of The LORD. Gazelle= Tzvi and sounds similar to Tzevaot= Hosts from the Name Yahweh Tzevaot - LORD of Hosts.
Doe/wild deer = ayilot hasadeh which sounds similar to El Shaddai. The Shulamite is not in a panic over the festival of Tu'B'Av, originating from Judges 19 - 21, when unmarried women of Jerusalem would dance in the streets dressed in white to be chosen by an admirer. She knows she has been chosen and has won the heart of the king. We have been chosen by The King of Glory before the foundation of the world ( Ephesians 1:4-5). We are chosen and made royalty, a royal priesthood ( 1 Peter 2:9). He first chose us before we ever gave Him a glance (John 15:16)
Hallelujah! What a Saviour!!

In this Hebrew month of Elul,we are continuing to look at the depth of God's love revealed to us in the Book of The Song Of Solomon, where the king has left his palace and gone out into the field of the world to seek his bride and bring her home to himself. Before The Fall, Man and GOD were joined as one in fellowship, love and life without death.
We are created in God's own image and created to be joined to Him by a spiritual umbilical cord. Apart from Him we can do nothing. To be apart from Him is to die.
The Hebrew word translated ravished/ captured / wounded in Song of Solomon is levabethini, meaning two hearts joined to each other, literally at home dwelling in each other. Christ Himself in His death and resurrection has restored the spiritual cord of Life available to us through His own blood.
He says to each of us "levabethini" - my heart is yours and yours is mine, joined, beating together.....
Selah.....
How much He loves us and longs for us and how lightly we often treat His passionate love toward us..... Shalom
