The Feast Of Tabernacles reveals to us the great obsession of God's Heart. In Exodus 25:8 we read "And let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell in their midst" The word sanctuary in Hebrew is "miqdash", a holy, special tent. The word dwell is "shakan" meaning to dwell and is related to the Hebrew word "shekinah", the abiding Presence and Glory of God's Person. In their midst in the Hebrew is "b'tocham" literally meaning "in them". In John 1:14, the Young's literal translation, we read "And the Word became flesh and did tabernacle among us." Christ was always fully GOD and chose to also become fully man and was conceived by The Holy Spirit in the physical womb of Mary. (Luke 1:31). From conception He was fully human as well as being fully GOD. This declares to us without any doubt, that a human being is fully human from conception in the womb. The connection between dwelling "shakan" and God's glory "shekinah" is seen in the second half of John 1:14.."and we beheld His glory". The obsession of God's heart is fulfilled on the 8th Day of the Feast of Tabernacles in Revelation 21:3 "Behold the tabernacle of GOD is with men and He will dwell with them". With GOD everything is about relationship and the heart. Psalm 49:11 in the Hebrew shows a distinction between houses, as physical structures to inhabit, and dwelling places, a place to permanently be, not necessarily geographically but in a relational context. We have a saying in English that "home is where the heart is".
2 Corinthians 6:16 declares that born again believers are the Temple of GOD as HE, in the Person of The Holy Spirit comes to dwell, take up residence, abides, within us. Selah

"Who would true valour see,
Let him come hither;
One here will constant be,
Come wind, come weather.
There’s no discouragement
Shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent
To be a pilgrim."
Throughout the 1970s, I sang these words in school assemblies set to music composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams. The words appear in Part 2 of John Bunyan’s The Pilgrims's Progress as part of Mr. Valiant-for-Truth’s testimony. Earlier, Valiant had introduced himself to Mr. Great-heart and his companions with the words, “I am a Pilgrim, and am going to the celestial city.”
All born again Christians are pilgrims heading to the celestial city. Bunyan was simply reflecting the Bible that he so loved. Scripture affirms that Christian believers are pilgrims. In the covenant made with Abraham, God promised him Canaan as “the land of your sojournings” (Genesis 17:8. In the New Testament, Peter reflects the same idea when he describes his readers as “elect exiles” (Peter 1:1; cf. 1:17, “the time of your exile”). Similarly, in reviewing the faithful believers of Old Testament history, the author of Hebrews refers to them as “strangers and exiles” in Hebrews 11:13
In Sukkot /The Feast Of Tabernacles ( See Leviticus 23:33-44)
the central ritual of building and dwelling in a sukkah—a temporary hut with a roof open to the sky—continues to commemorate the temporary shelters used by the Israelites in the desert.
The Christian life is a camping expedition, a road trip, a pilgrimage. This world is not our home ".... we look not to the things which are seen but to the things which are unseen. For the things which are seen are transient, but the things which are unseen are eternal" 2 Corinthians 4:18.
The 4 types of trees used for building the temporary booths each represent different parts of our journey in this world. ( See Leviticus 22:40) Firstly the fruit of the Citron Tree, the lulav, which looks like a large lemon, represents the heart and the journey of our heart into The Heart Of GOD Himself, our Promised Land. The palm tree branches are from Date Palms which grow in the valleys of Israel representing God's Presence with us at the lowest points of our life. The leafy trees are the myrtle trees which grow on the high rocky mountainous terrain of Israel representing that when the road is hard and steep, GOD is with us. Finally the willows of the brook are willow trees which grow along the banks of rivers and represent the Holy Spirit giving us His Living Water and making streams in the desert.
We set our hearts on Christ. Hebrews 13:14 says "For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come"

2 Timothy 2:20-21 tells us, “In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. " Becoming a vessel of honour in The LORD 's Kingdom we are continually shaped by the Holy Spirit in the classroom of attitue in the every day things of life and especially how we treat those around us. Our attitude in washing the dishes matters to GOD. Our attitude of heart is always what is under the all seeing eyes of The Master in every task of life. In fact, I find that it is in the most menial tasks that The Holy Spirit wants to be involved and shapes us on His potter's wheel, the menial or unpleasant tasks not in public view, but in view of The King of Glory.

Isaiah 58 is an impactful passage. It is read during Yom Kippur, a day of fasting, and challenges the superficiality of fasting while witholding acts of compassion and working to free those who are opposed. Verse 3 however in particular exposes the hidden motives of the heart which, as always, The LORD is always most interested in. Our trust in The LORD is revealed not in our statements by word or deeds, but in our actions of every day life and especially of how we treat other people around us. "Love the LORD your GOD" cannot be separated from "Love your neighbour as yourself". Fasting by itself means nothing. If I am fasting but am rude and speak harshly to others with intolerance or a lack of patience, my fasting is in vain. I must ask myself the hard question that requires an honest health check of my heart: am I fasting, or doing "stuff" to make me feel good about myself because I have "ticked the good works box", or is my heart motive to intimately know and bring pleasure to my Heavenly Father's heart? Am I playing a religious game with GOD trying gain merits from Him and/or increased self esteem from how others view me or appear to value my opinion, or am I seeking to do justice, love compassion and walk with my LORD without pride? ( See Micah 6:8) In
Isaiah 58:3 GOD reveals that the people were seeking to find their own desire in their fasting. The word seek here is the Hebrew word "matsa" meaning to come upon, to reach or attain. The goal they were seeking was their own desire. The Hebrew word used here is "hefets" meaning delight as in the emotional sense of satisfaction one feels from a job well done. There was however no transformation of the heart.
I Corinthians 13 also exposes the motives of the heart. Verse 4 says that love is long suffering and kind. That one statement is one that The Holy Spirit has been spotlighting in my heart for several months.... Ouch!!! The Holy Spirit will reveal to us the hidden motives of our heart. Do we do whatever we do for Him, or is it actually for us? It seems to me that the test of true devotion to The LORD is always in the way we treat other people. In Matthew 5:24 The LORD Jesus says that if we have an issue between us and someone we should seek reconciliation with them first before we leave any gift on God's altar....

Psalms 9:9 “The Lord will also be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.” Refuge in Hebrew is the word "shagav." It means a high place, to be raised up, set in security, to make powerful, to strengthen,in a strong inaccessible place, lifted up and too high for capture. Proverbs 18:10 tells us that the Name of The LORD is a strong tower and the righteous run to it and are set on high above evil. GOD Himself lifts us up above the crushing affliction and continuous oppression of this fallen world system. He delivers us from demonic forces that seek to bind us up and hold us down with crushing pressure. Deuteronomy 33:27 The Eternal God Himself is our refuge and our dwelling place, carried in His everlasting arms. Psalm 91:14 tells us that when we know the Name of GOD, meaning intimacy of knowledge, we are lifted up into Himself. Our strength lies in intimacy with Father GOD Himself. Ephesians 2:6 tells us that in Christ, in Messiah, we are lifted up into His Presence far above the crushing and binding oppression of the satanic forces in this fallen world.
We must abide in Him.

The second of the Autumn feasts, following Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets, is Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement or The Day of Covering. We read about this in Leviticus chapters 16 +17 and 23:27. The High Priest would enter the Holy Of Holies and pour the shed blood of a bull and a goat upon The Mercy Seat over The Ark Of The Covenant. GOD would look at the blood and cover over the sins of the people of Israel for another year. But GOD Himself in The Person of The Son, The Lamb of GOD, has once for all paid the price for sin. Hebrews chapters 9 +10 tell us that the blood of bulls and goats were merely a shadow of what Yeshuah Himself would do for us.
Yom Kippur is also a prophetic feast pointing us to the time in the Great Tribulation, after the rapture of the church , which will fulfil the Feast of Trumpets, when the nation of Israel will return in national repentance to Messiah. See Zechariah 12:10
We would do well to stand with the nation of Israel. God's plans and purposes for Israel will surely come to pass. Satan has tried to destroy the Jewish people since Genesis chapter 3 because of the prophecies concerning both Messiah and the nation of Israel. Let's look to God's Word and not the lies of the world's media mouthpieces for what we believe and know in these days upon the earth. Shalom shalom.

The wisest decision each and any of us can make is to fear, revere, respect, honour and love the Wisdom of GOD, Who is Messiah, Christ Jesus Himself. ( Proverbs 9:10 and 1 Corinthians 1:20-24)
To love The instructions of our Creator is to embrace Life Himself. To reject The Saviour is to love and court Death. (Proverbs 8 :35-36)
We can ask Him for wisdom, and receive it whenever we need. (James 1:5) So, dear brothers and sisters, when we need wisdom, let us run into the arms of Jesus Christ our Great Redeemer and friend and find the "chokhma", the wisdom of God that our hearts long for and so much much much more.

Our attitude is our thought life revealed to everyone. Our attitude is the posture we choose to take towards our every day life. The Holy Spirit is extremely interested in how we are in the every day mundane things of life behind closed doors or where no one else is looking. Do I dump the shopping trolley near the car because it's pouring with rain and I am tired or do I take it back to the trolley parking place? Hosea 14 :1-4 has two words in Hebrew that are antithetical: Teshuvah meaning to return to GOD in repentance and Meshuvah to turn away from GOD in backsliding. We are healed of backsliding when we confess and repent of our iniquity, in Hebrew "avon" meaning to be intentionally twisted, bent or crooked, a distortion of what is good. It means to deliberately go off course away from the straight road to The Father's Heart and go off down a side alley that becomes ever more twisted and eventually, if we don't turn around and get back to the path of Life, will take us to destruction. See Proverbs 14:12
We must be careful to listen to the prompts of the Holy Spirit. Take the shopping trolley back. Stop complaining and grumbling and have an attitude of gratitude for the amazing grace of our Father GOD. Thank you Father for your longsuffering yet kind heart with me every day!
